To Cultivate Collaborative Library Scholars

Collaborative Library Scholars? Why?

Vision

Vision

ARL's 2033 vision: by 2033, research libraries should “have shifted from its role as a knowledge service provider … to become a collaborative partner”.
Role

Role

Many librarian-scholars will advance from the supporting role to become specialists and even research leaders.

Relation

Relation

The library as an organization will develop symbiotic relations with its faculty, students, and other campus constituents.

Joint PDI Program

Joint PDI provides three levels of participation with increasing intensity and engagement. At Level 1, prospective librarian-researchers are invited to attend a series of free online training and mentorship events provided by established scholars in library and information science, liberal arts and social sciences, and STEM. Level 2 and Level 3 participation is limited to employees of a participating library. If your library would like to participate in Joint PDI as a group, please contact us.
Workshops and mentoring
Learning

A free, online 10-unit research methods training program for librarians at MLS level; online workshops sharing librarian-scholar successes; guided workshops to prepare for competitive grants, followed by small group mentoring; self-organized peer mentoring groups.

Practicum

Focus on SMART goals, deliverables should lead to more impactful scholarly outcomes, future projects, and collaborations.

Fellowship
